This is a one of the most spectacular ascents near the Aconcagua Mt. From its summit the great Mt. Aconcagua can be seen.
The magnificent "Andes observer", show us its impressive South Face.
Origin of name Penitentes:
In the magnificent mountains of the Andes, near of Aconcagua Mountain there are rocks who simulate Capuchin monks in procession. In the early Church, penance became a table of salvation for the sinner baptized.
The "order of penitents or Capuchin monks" maintained a long-time waiver of the world, similar to the more austere monks. According to the region, penitents wore a special habit or shaved heads. |

Operable: November to April.
ZONE: "Villa Los Penitentes". Los Andes Mountain Range - Mendoza - Argentina
Itinerary:
Day 1: Reception in the city of Mendoza and transfer to Villa the Penitentes (2700 msnm). Beginning the trekking of approach journeying by "Vargas Valley". Camping in the base camp. Supper and lodging
Day 2: In the morning, beginning of the ascent (time approximated until the summit: five hours). Reduction to the base camp. Supper and lodging.
Day 3: Return to "Villa Los Penitentes". Transfer to the city of Mendoza.

(*)Note:
In the expedition is necessary to use communitary equipment like tents, elements of mountain kitchen, dishes, fuel, food for each day. This equipment should be moved to each camp that describe the program. The people that are part of the expedition will be the responsables to carry their own backpacks and all the equipment, distribute it in equitative form in each member. We don't carry porters or pack animals.
